The story behind Haven Mental Wellness | The Mission | The Founder + Owner

The Story

Haven by definition is defined as a safe place or place where one may seek refuge. Gemini chose this name because facing the challenges that accompany Mental Health Wellness can be frightening, overwhelming and even defeating when faced alone. At Haven Mental Wellness, we seek to be a safe place for individuals and families to heal and strengthen their well-being. Haven is unique because not only do we provide mental health services, but we also focus on providing education and promoting awareness of the effects of mental illness on the body as a whole. Through combining evidenced based therapeutic treatment and integrative alternative holistic treatments, it is our hope to foster a healing change and provide support to adults, children and families.

The Mission

It is the mission of Haven Mental Wellness to strengthen the path to a vibrant well being. We strive to promote whole body healing by addressing one's concern in the emotional, physical, psychological and energetic parts of self. The discoveries made become the cornerstone of a new way for you to be in the world. Your courage to heal helps you to acquire skills and insight that help to serve you (and others) on your larger journey.

Owner & Founder
Welcome to Haven. I am so excited that you have chosen this space to begin or to continue your healing journey. I am humbled to accompany you down this path and hope to help you “grow through what you have gone through (or may be going through)”.

I am a clinical social worker by trade and a whole body healer at heart. I hold a license in Clinical Social Work and hold multi-state licenses to include NC, MD and VA. I am a native New Yorker and moved to North Carolina after receiving my Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University in 2006.

I started my helping journey at that time by providing counseling services to those living with End Stage Renal Disease. Since 2011 I have been in private practice where I provide individual and family psychotherapeutic counseling services to children, adolescents, adults and families. I received my certification in Clinical Supervision from the NASW board and also provide clinical supervision for clinicians preparing for licensure. I am board certified as a Telehealth provider (BC-TMH). I am currently working toward being nationally certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and becoming a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT).

For the last 15 years, my extensive work with individuals and families has created in me an awareness of the benefits of incorporating a mind-body-spirit connection in healing mental health concerns. My passion has grown into moving towards a whole- body way of providing treatment. This desire has taken me on a journey to learn how to infuse integrative, alternative holistic sources of treatment into my work with helping those that I serve. I am trained in the natural healing arts of Shamanic healing and the art of Usui Reiki and am currently a Reiki Level II Practitioner working towards my Master Reiki Certification. I have also received certification in the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and am registered with the yoga Alliance.

With all that said, I look forward to walking with you on your healing journey as you transition from the hurt that is known to the healing yet to be seen.
